Jaclayvious Emmanuel

Jaclayvious Emmanual (b. 1993 Columbus, GA) is a self-taught Neo-Expressionist mixed-media artist.  A naturally curious individual, his artistic roots began at five years old with his love for skateboarding.  The sport's culture inspired his exploration of graffiti and nomadic tendencies often prompted him to travel on a whim. Painting graffiti while traveling deepened his fascination with art and motivated him to study traditional media.

Whether it be teaching himself Japanese and working on a strawberry farm in Ibaraki, investigating garment construction and materials, or practicing traditional and modern animation methods, Jaclayvious constantly immerses himself in something new.  His openness to opportunity allows him to explore questions more thoroughly.

Jaclayvious' works are guided by his environment and the passing of time.  He frequently uses recycled materials, playing with scale and condition to emphasize everyday items. He uses his work to draw attention to abandoned property, invoking a sense of nostalgia and shedding light on things often taken for granted.
